Gas mask filters deplete too quickly?

I can't shake the feeling that the gas mask filters deplete way too quickly. While the filters are sufficient if one is to just RUN through an area... they deplete very quickly if one wishes to linger in the gas.

Why would you want to linger? Oh, I dunno... like to grab crystals, fight off spiders and similar activities...

i still havent unlocked the gas mask and i dont think i will right now, its basically useless as i can basically build up and around stuff or simply run through taking the damage and keep healing

Definitely. I just picked up a slug in a gas area and used four filters in a few seconds.
Gas mask should also be usable with jetpack. parachute etc.

Especially since plants don't respawn, so you don't have an infinite supply of filters.

I just don't understand why I simply can't have it both ways, for the sake of me, I want to hold the glass and at the same time, the beer inside the glass. One or the other is just too cruel!
