When you haven't yet worked up to proper miners and are out exploring, it's really easy to lose track of where you left your portable miner, especially if the ore is down a cliff or behind a hill out of sight of your hub.

By the time beacons come into play it’s likely  stationary miners have been put in place. I’m talking very early game when newcomers are still trying to get their bearings and are not as familiar with landmarks.

Than just use your scanner to find the nearest "ore" because you only place your miners on ores and you can find it anytime with your scaner. So there is no need to ad the miner to the hud
