I am unsure as to whether this is intended or not, but the standard walls (yellow) have a different texture/ material look when you have the object out to be placed versus when the object is built and "in the world."
To be specific, the yellow walls before they are placed, have diamond sheet metal like material sections. After they are placed the diamond sheet metal sections are replaced with solid yellow.
