Have you considered having the one set of inputs reversed on the industrial storage container?

The new renamed industrial storage container has two inputs on one end and two outputs on the other. If you had the upper pair of inputs and outputs reversed you could use conveyor lifts to have really space efficient storage towers without having to alternate container direction. You'd also then have both an input and an output available in either direction at almost any height on the tower.

Well with the new system you can buffer two stack belt efficiently, to do what you need it seems easier to just stack two container mk1 and use a conveyor lift on the other end
