Can't get death crate back

I died in one of the caves near the beach/oil. There were 3/4 green slugs and a yellow to my knowledge. I hit the water too hard and died. The rest of the cave is deep water and I can tell that where I landed should've been as well.
'My crate is now no where at all. I fear it's below the water. Help!

I think the simplest thing would be to go back to a previous save.  It may be considered cheating but that is up to you.

There is a way to get under the water to the bottom.

Entering ragdoll mode will sink yourself down to the bottom.

To enter Crtl+Shift+R

To Deactivated make a swinging/attack motion.
