I went a bit too fast setting things up today, had a constructor just behind the pole that I was trying to target, and instead ended up selecting the constructor as the starting point for the wire, and then I went and dragged it to the smelter. Obviously, that does not work, and since machines can only have one connection, it does not make any kind of sense. If I had to guess, this is possible between just about every machine out there.

Not a bug. Just have to be more careful about not connecting things that can't supply power.

Correct. Wires are indiscriminate about how they attach as long as:

  • The object you connect to can support power.
  • the length of the wire is not too long
  • the object still has space for a new wire connection
  • there does not already exist a connection between the 2 points (you cant connect 2 wires between the same 2 poles)

any connection that meets these 4 requirements will work, even if they practically have no value (such as connecting 2 factories)
