I am not sure if this could be considered a bug, but I think it would be nice to have a choice of which power poles are put down when extending cable. For example you follow these steps:

  1. Put down an MK2 power pole
  2. Connect a cable to it
  3. Extend the cable an arbitrary expanse
  4. The next pole that gets placed is MK1 - there isn't a choice here.
Should there be a choice of what your terminating pole is? Right now the assumption is to always put down MK1 poles.

SImple mouse wheel to change between the pole types would be lovely
That's actually what I was thinking too. There are other games where that's what you do to change ammo type and things of that nature. Most intuitive and fluid.

I suppose I support this, although I don't know how easy it would be to implement and how much the community would actually use it. I think that once the player has the experience from getting to the point of having mk2+ they're pre-placing power poles in their factories or setups. I find that most of the time that I'm actually creating new power poles only from wire, I'm actually just connecting one source to another from a long distance and I wouldn't benefit from the ability to choose a higher pole level anyways. With all of that being said, it's not a bad suggestion, it certainly wouldn't hurt gameplay in any way.

Sometimes you can't pre-place power pole on the foundation because the place is crowded and it snaps to a grid. There IS place for a power pole but only in between the grid nodes, so the only way to place power pole is to extend cable from another power pole, because in that case they don't snap to a grid. This way you can also place power poles on top of splitters/mergers.

I always perform a search before making any posts. I found no such thing in common with mine. If you believe you have found a post that exists already then at least provide the link to support your claim.

August 28th update: We've removed downvotes! One major reason is because we don't want to discourage folks from posting legitimate suggestions / reports / questions with fear of being mass downvoted (which has been happening a LOT). So we now allow you to upvote what you like, or ignore what you don't. Points have also been adjusted to account for this change.
Please use the search function before posting a new question and upvote existing ones to bring more attention to them, It will help us a lot. <3
