I admit it's a bit exotic, but it happened to me more than once.
When you use your jetpack pressing the jump button and additionally (perhaps accidentally) press Q for the build menu, the jetpack continues to thrust upwards even when you release the jump button, until it runs out of fuel. Closing the build menu alone does not help.
It has to do with the new search feature in the build menu which is opened with the space bar. The search field will consume your keystrokes and the jetpack is unable to detect the release of the space bar. It will therefore continue to thrust upwards until it runs out of fuel.
When you are quick and press Esc to close the build menu you can then tap the space bar once to stop the thrusting.
But perhaps the opening of the build menu should be prevented while using the jetpack.
