Please can we make the sound of trains braking something gentler? A sci-fi noise, hydraulic piston noise, whooshing, anything? The squealing is very realistic, but also very painful for my ears.

something better would be a separate option in the audio settings for vehicles.

The sound is certainly realistic, but it's most definitely awful when you have a headset pumping that noise directly into your ears. With that said, there are other noises which would be appropriate. For exemple, modern electric trains and many other pieces of machinery do have friction breaks, but don't actually use them for the most part. Breaking is done by turning the motor into a turbine that turns forward momentum into electricity which can be sent back to the network, or dissipated as heat.
