When manually driving a loco, personally I'd prefer a roller-coaster view, ie. to be able to see  the tracks right in front of you, instead of from somewhere above.

The same applies for every vehicle BTW.

I think originally there was a developer idea of having a small platform at the front of the loco, and "getting in" rather would have meant "getting on". I do not know if this idea has just faded away or postponed for later, but a real driving feeling would be a big shot!

FP view could be invoked by scrolling into your head, as in many FP(S) games, where there is a top view by default but if you want to be inside your body, you have to mouse-scroll in.

So we now allow you to upvote what you like, or ignore what you don't. Points have also been adjusted to account for this change.
Please use the search function before posting a new question and upvote existing ones to bring more attention to them, It will help us a lot. <3
