Power cables interfere with conveyor belt placement quite frequently, exacerbating the existing issues with belt snapping.

This is because the game considers power cables to be solid objects that other objects can be placed on top of (although players and vehicles can pass through them). This also affects things like placing power poles and foundations. Cables should just be ignored when placing objects.

I think you are a little confused here. The actual cables themselves are already non-collidable. I can drive vehicles through the wires. I can have the wires clip through walls, clip through buildings and machines, etc. It's the power -POLES- that you are colliding with.

You're right that the player and vehicle pass through cables, but I was talking specifically about the object placement system. I'll edit the question to make that clearer - thanks!
