I currently have a world, where after a Train Station, the Railroad track only goes downwards and after that almost immediately reaches the next train station. The problem that I saw with that was the trains being way too fast to be able to break in time for the train to stop, resulting in a funny immediate stop as if it hit a wall at the station. My suggestion to solve issues like that would be to be able to add speed limitations which will make the train brake at such passages. The Idea would be to be able to set up a sign at the railroad and drag the end point to any point behind it but only to the next switch, so problems like trains on the other railroad suddenly abiding to the speed limit would be avoided. Also it looks rather stupid when a train goes to a full stop from over 100 km/h so if the train isn't able to stop at the station, it should just shoot over it and then disply an error message like when it can't navigate to the train station.

That's how trains originally worked when they were first implemented. The "Full Stop" was added to fix this problem. It may look stupid but at least it works? I would much rather the trains perform a "Full Stop" than not stop at all. That would be really crappy to go to all the work building a train system and see the train just blow through a station and not stop at all.

So would a better braking system for the trains be in order?

Or you could just re-design your train system to give it enough track to come to a proper stop before your station....... just saying. If the train slams to a stop at your station then that's kind of your fault and really poor track layout. Trains will already automatically slow down before a station all on their own without us having to do anything.. if you give them enough track room to do so.

To be fair, by the time you get trains, you're probably trying to fit them into an existing layout a lot of the time, rather than building brand new layouts specifically for trains.  I do wish there were a level of trains before the monorails, just like we get the sugar cube before the trucks.  Having steam (coal) or diesel (biofuel) trains around tier 3/4 would encourage players to start designing their bases around trains a lot earlier, easing some of the pain of getting them at tier 6 and having to rip everything up to fit them into existing bases.
